Students Shine at TEDx

This weekend, our school community hosted another inspiring TEDx event, highlighting the power of student voice and the importance of empowering young people to share their ideas with the world. TEDx events are independently organized programs modeled after the well-known TED Talks, designed to bring people together to share “ideas worth spreading” through short, impactful presentations.

This year's theme was "The Power of Small Things." Student speakers Nora Magnarelli, Olivia Huyck, and Aubrionna Ballard each took the stage with confidence, authenticity, and powerful ideas. Nora shared a message rooted in leadership, connection, and using your voice to make an impact, centered on her leadership role in the Longest Table event at CMS last fall. Olivia was new to CCS this year and reflected on attending multiple schools and how each experience taught her that growth can happen anywhere. Aubrionna delivered a thoughtful and moving talk about perspective, resilience, and choosing compassion and gratitude even through life’s challenges.

The event itself is a reflection of the vision and leadership of Mrs. Sarah Gaetano, who has led TEDx efforts in our school community since 2018. Since then, the event has featured more than 60 speakers, evenly split between adults and students.

Beyond organizing the event, Mrs. Gaetano works closely with students through every stage of the process, helping them develop ideas, write talks, practice delivery, and build confidence. TEDx is a perfect example of her belief that students do not need to wait to make an impact—their voices, ideas, and stories matter right now.

Thanks to other members of the CCS community who made the night possible. Angelo Gaetano, Eliza Gaetano, Lilly Lane, Sadie Scoones, and Gemma Spadea served as the evening's hosts and Ben Wileczka, Mr. DeStefanis, Mr. Gaetano, and Mrs. Pavone produced a great show.
