Middle School Students Work with KAC Artist

KAC artist presenting as students listen

On September 10, Clinton Middle School students had the opportunity to work alongside Argentine-American artist Ramiro Dávaro-Comas, whose exhibition, “Familias” opens this September at the Kirkland Art Center. Ramiro led a day of hands-on workshops with current art students and former Olympics of Visual Arts students, guiding them through brainstorming and drawing activities that encouraged creativity and personal expression.

The students’ artwork created during these sessions will be proudly displayed as part of the “Familias” exhibition, giving them the rare chance to see their work featured in a professional gallery alongside Ramiro’s own paintings. This collaboration allowed students to not only learn from a professional artist, but also to contribute their voices to an important series exploring identity, belonging and resilience.

The exhibition opened with a community reception on Saturday, September 13 from 1–4 p.m. at the Kirkland Art Center. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the creativity of our students.

Thank you to Mrs. Pape and the Kirkland Art Center for creating this opportunity for students!
