Guest Speaker Explores Hydrology With Middle School Students

Students in class on a virtual meeting.

Middle school students recently had the exciting opportunity to meet virtually with Julianna Huba, a hydrogeologist who has studied water systems and lithium extraction in Chile.

During the Google Meet session, Huba shared insights into her current research and offered valuable life lessons that connected beautifully to the seventh-grade English language arts class’s ongoing study of curiosity and exploration.

She encouraged students to remember that “the best opportunities happen when we least expect them” and reminded them to “stay curious” and “stay informed” so they can discover what truly interests them.

Huba also emphasized the importance of collaboration and patience, explaining that meaningful work often takes time—but the results are worth the wait.

Her message to students was clear and inspiring: don’t limit yourself, and keep exploring and seeking out what excites you.
