Engineering in Action
Students in Mr. O’Rourke’s Design and Drawing for Production (DDP) class designed and built an earthquake simulator.
Created in collaboration with Mr. Campeau’s Earth and Space Science class, the simulator was used to test the durability of structures students design in an upcoming unit. Through this project, DDP students applied their knowledge of CAD, 3D printing, cams, springs, fasteners, and hands-on tool and machine use—bringing engineering concepts to life in a meaningful, real-world way.
Mr. Campeau’s class then presented to elementary students who applied what they learned to their own inventions.
