Comets Shine at NYSSMA Majors Festival

Comets Shine at NYSSMA Majors Festival

The Clinton Music Department hosted the NYSSMA Majors Festival again this year on May 20th-21st. At NYSSMA Majors, ensembles perform repertoire for two trained adjudicators who evaluate the groups based on their tone, intonation, accuracy/execution, rhythm, interpretation, and other influencing factors. All groups receive both written comments and audio recordings with spoken comments from the adjudicators during the performance.

This year, the High School Band, Chorus, and Orchestra participated and all received Gold Rating - the highest rating that was given at this year's festival! In addition, the Middle School Band performed and earned a Gold Rating, and the Middle School Orchestra participated in a Clinical Evaluation where they received comments and had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a workshop with one of the adjudicators. Clinton even had the 5th Grade Band participate in the festival, where they received a Bronze Rating.

Congratulations to all of the students that participated in this terrific educational experience!
