Clinton Central School District Unveils New Comets Logo
The Clinton Central School District is pleased to share its new Comets logo.
The Comets logo is the product of a nearly six-month-long collaboration between District students, art teachers and local graphic design firms. Students initially met with teachers and administrators to learn about the renaming process and brainstorm how best to visually represent the District’s new Comets mascot. High School art teachers Angelo Gaetano and Mindy Pavone led students through the early design phase and then students presented their designs to District administration and local designers for input and feedback.
Clinton was fortunate to have District alums Matt Brockett, president and CEO of Clinton-based Brockett Creative Group and illustrator/muralist Priscilla Witte to provide support and direction throughout the design process. Brockett and Witte relied on student designs and feedback to create the final Comets logo image package.
“Congratulations to the students, staff and alums who were deeply involved in this project for creating these incredible images to represent our District,” said Superintendent of Schools Christopher Clancy. “They worked collaboratively throughout the last several months to design images that represent our great sense of pride and tradition, as well as the next chapter in our CCS history. Go Comets!”
The logo creation follows a three-month-long renaming process led by the District’s Renaming Steering Committee comprised of students, parents, coaches, faculty, alumni, administrators and athletes. The mascot selection process included a variety of opportunities for the entire Clinton community to share ideas and feedback for potential new names.
The Comets mascot, based on the final recommendation of the District’s Renaming Steering Committee, was adopted by the Clinton Central School District Board of Education last fall and was informally announced to students, staff and the community during a pep rally at the beginning of Homecoming Weekend 2023.
