Holiday Celebrations Held at the Middle School

The Warriors in the middle school have participated in a wide range of activities in anticipation of the holiday season. Whether it be crafting “snowpeople” on Winter Fun Day, collecting toys for “Stuff the Bus” watching Wall-E during Activity Night, or dressing in your holiday best for Spirit Week, the halls and classrooms were filled with positivity, excitement and creativity during the month of December.

On Wednesday, December 22 the students celebrated the launch of Winter Recess by engaging in Winter Fun Day! The students’ calendars were filled with a variety of activities that were self-selected to take place in 40 minute increments throughout the school day. A few activities included gingerbread cookie decorating stations, Pictionary, hot coco paint and sip, Singo, arts and crafts, and ice skating at the Clinton Arena.

Each session was held in either Mrs. Faffley’s, Mrs. Pape’s, Mrs. Grimm’s, Mrs. Baker’s, Mrs. Gehring’s, Mr. King’s or Mr. Shearin’s rooms. Games of kickball were played in the gymnasium, a holiday movie was shown in the theater, ice skating sessions were held at the arena, and reading assignments took place in the media center.

The organization and creation of Winter Fun Day would not have been possible without the efforts of Mrs. Faffley and Dr. Carney. We extend our appreciation to the entire faculty and staff at the middle school, The Clinton Arena for donating their ice skates and ice rink for the Warriors to enjoy throughout day, and the Clinton Hannaford for donating all of the items to the middle school students for cookie decorating, including personalized boxes filled with sprinkles, icing and cookies!

In addition to Winter Fun Day, the Middle School Student Council presented a Winter Activity Night on December 10. Activities included board games, coloring stations, Mario Kart, and a viewing of the film Wall-E. We appreciate Student Council for thinking outside of the box and creating activities that adhere to COVID guidelines, yet are interactive and fun for all students! Activity Night was accomplished by our Middle School Student Council advisers Ms. Bock and Mrs. Taranto.

During the month of December, donations of unwrapped toys were collected throughout the middle school to help families in need, and spread holiday cheer to children. KissFM’s challenge of “Stuff the Bus” was supported by LEO’s club advised by Mrs. Tesak. Mrs. Tesak diligently worked with students to participate in the challenge and collect a surplus of toys from the Warriors. “Stuff the Bus” was additionally supported by our High School Positivity Project, advised by Mrs. Washburn and Mrs. Pavone.

Spirit Week was also observed through the halls during the three-day week of classes prior to winter recess.

Students and faculty members participated in the fun by dressing in their favorite attire. Cindy Lou Who even made a guest appearance on “character day!”

During challenging times, it's essential to remember the importance of feeling connected. Thank you to the middle school faculty and staff for continuing to make the Warriors feel appreciated, while safely celebrating.
