Santoli Awards

The award was created and funded by Mrs. Genevieve Santoli, who was inspired not only by her husband’s legacy of kindness, but also by the late Chris Rosati and the butterfly effect: “this idea that a single butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the globe can, in theory, start a hurricane on the other.” In the spirit of positive impact, selected students from are awarded $50 to “pay it forward” within their communities. All nominated students are celebrated in May with cupcakes and a butterfly release. While so many awards are focused on achievement in academics or athletics, the Santoli award is an opportunity for students to be recognized for their integrity and strength of character.

Through the award Clinton students have:

  • Sold raffle tickets to raise over $1,000 for the Golisano Center wish list items
  • Started a coin drive to raise over $600 for a local animal shelter
  • Bought items and brought volunteers to stock local food pantry
  • Created a raffle to raise money to benefit the fire department
  • Bought supplies for ongoing curriculum to teach kindergartners about the lifecycle of chickens
  • Donated toys/supplies to local pet shelter
  • Donated recreational items to local nursing home

In the fall, Charlotte Gale, Landon Stilz, and Bozhena Samoshuk were selected as Santoli award winners. Spring recipients will be announced in May.

The Santoli Scholarship is run through Rachel’s Warriors. Advisors Kathleen Washburn and Amie Johnson are deeply grateful to Mrs. Genevieve Santoli and other donors who make this award possible.  It is exciting to see CCS students empowered to make such positive change.
