Julia Cicchinelli, a sophomore in Chinese 2b class at Clinton High School, was recently selected to receive a 2017-2018 NSLI-Y scholarship. The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) is sponsored by the Government of the United States of America through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This merit-based scholarship is especially competitive for the summer program applicants and allows excellent American students to study critical language learning in the locations where the NSLI-Y languages are spoken. The scholarship will give Julia the opportunity to attend rigorous Chinese language program and attend cultural enhancement and community service activities this summer in China. During her 7-week summer program in China, Julia will live with the local host families. Congratulations to Julia!
