Student Placement Guidelines
We are beginning the process of creating the 2024-2025 class lists. We will include your child/children’s class placement on their final report card. Changes will not be made after notification has been sent out.
If you would like to address a concern prior to receiving information regarding your child’s placement, you are encouraged to do so. This should be done by emailing the principal at ewaskiewicz@ccs.edu no later than May 13, 2024. Parent input will not be taken after May 13th. If you provide input, please focus on concerns regarding teaching and learning styles, student peers, previous family experiences with specific teachers, and special challenges. Specific teachers cannot be requested.
Below are the procedures currently used at Clinton Elementary School in developing class lists for the upcoming school year. I believe that it is necessary to be transparent so you can trust that the process is fair and in the best interest of all the students in our school. These procedures are intensive and involve administrative, faculty, student and parent input. We take into consideration a wide range of variables to create classes that are balanced.
Rationale
We believe that it is beneficial to provide heterogeneous (balanced) classroom environments for our students. This allows us to maximize the educational benefits of our elementary program and to fairly evaluate the performance of our teachers.
Process
Classroom teachers, specialists and Principal Waskiewicz meet to review the information obtained during the school year. The gathered information and meetings are used to discuss the needs of students, learning styles, recommended teaching styles, behaviors, achievements and successful student combinations. Following these meetings, using all input, the principal and teachers develop balanced student groupings.
The building principal will develop the basic class lists. The class lists will be disseminated to the 2024-2025 school year teachers, giving time for teachers to acquire general information, successes, and helpful techniques from your child’s current teacher.
