Miss Sarah Smith
My name is Sarah Smith, and I am so excited to begin my second year as a 6th grade teacher, and to be returning to Clinton! I am a 2005 Clinton graduate, and am so thrilled to be able to call Clinton home once again.
I graduated in 2009 from SUNY Potsdam, with a Bachelor's Degree in Theater and Acting. I decided to continue my education and become a teacher, and completed my Master's of Science in Teaching in 2012, also from SUNY Potsdam. I have since substituted in the West Canada Valley district, and worked for two years in a Behavior Adjustment classroom at Herkimer BOCES.
In my spare time, I do many things within the community. I have taught dance since 2011 at Ondrea's CenterStage, specializing in musical theater and tap. I also participate regularly in many local community productions, whether performing on the stage, or working as a member of the production team choeorgraphing or directing. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, reading, cooking, and traveling (My next big trip is planned for next summer...Europe here I come!). I am also a HUGE Disney and Harry Potter fan, and may throw in several movie or book references while teaching my lessons.
I have a cat named Princeton. He has seven toes on one front paw and eight toes on the other. He was a shelter animal that I rescued, and have had him for 7 years. He follows me around the house, plays fetch, and is always causing trouble ("trouble" happens to be his nick name!).
However, the most important thing you need to know about me is that I love teaching. I can't wait to get the year started! I so look forward to getting to know your children and having a wonderful, creative, and successful school year, working with them to achieve their goals and to help them adjust to their first year of Middle School. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or comments!
