Repair & Maintenance Guide

If Your Chromebook Needs Repair:

1. Complete a Work Order Request

If your Chromebook needs repair, you should initiate a work order request in Master Library.  If your Chromebook issues don’t allow you to submit the work order you can do this in the Secondary Library Media Center. This request will include specific details about the issues you are experiencing. You will need to include the specific Chromebook Asset Tag Number.

2. Turn in Your Chromebook

Take your Chromebook  to the library media specialist. They will collect your device and ensure that it gets picked up by a technician from BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) for repairs.

3. Short-Term Loan Chromebooks

If your Chromebook needs extensive repairs, or if you leave it at home, the district has a limited number of Chromebooks for short-term loan. Depending on demand, one of these may/may not be available. These can be signed out from the library media center. Make sure to return the loaned Chromebook once your original device is repaired and ready to use again.

We also will utilize the Chromebook Loan process for the occasional instance when a device is forgotten at home. In these circumstances Chromebooks must be returned at the end of the day without exception. Students that chronically fail to bring their device will not continue to receive a loan and may be subject to a consequence.

4. Charging Your Chromebook

While your Chromebook is in your possession, it's important to keep it charged. It's recommended that you charge your Chromebook each evening at home. This ensures that your device is ready for use during school hours.

5. Classroom Charging Cord

Each classroom will have one spare charging cord available. This charging cord is meant for classroom use only and should not be removed from the classroom. Teachers will establish a process for allowing students to borrow the charger while in the classroom.

By following these steps, you'll ensure that your Chromebook repair process is efficient, and you can continue your learning without interruption.
