Letter from the Superintendent - March 16 2020
March 16, 2020
Dear Families,
I am writing to provide an update related to our prolonged school closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has caused our schools to close.
I remind you that the Clinton Central Schools will be closed until April 14, 2020, which includes all extracurricular activities and sports. This closure was in response to the County Executive’s State of Emergency Order in Oneida County on Friday, March 13, 2020.
I will communicate with you daily until further notice in order to provide you with necessary information and updates.
Regarding Food:
We will be providing FREE “Grab & Go” breakfast and lunch box combos beginning this Wednesday, March 18th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at two pickup locations: The High School Cafeteria (Bus Loop by Brick Walkway), and the Church of the Annunciation - Country Pantry - Parking Lot (Look for the Clinton School Bus) at 7616 East South Street, Clark Mills, NY 13321.
Please use this form to order the meals: Clinton CSD "Grab & Go" Meal Order Form
Regarding Instructional Continuity and Student Learning:
Each building is working collaboratively with teachers to develop learning opportunities for students remotely. This could include the use of online learning tools already in use, such as Buzz and Google Classroom, or the production of paper-based activities and learning that will be delivered to homes on Thursday for Middle and High School students, or as is the case for the Elementary School, students were sent home with the packets last Friday.
Students in the middle and high schools should check their school emails for announcements from their teachers. We will also contact you regarding the drop off of packets on Thursday during the day.
Students have already been surveyed regarding internet and computer access, and plans are being made to deliver chromebooks to those families who have indicated such a need. If you have any questions about chromebook access, please contact your respective building principal: High School - Dr. Lee mlee@ccs.edu, Middle School - Dr. Carney scarney@ccs.edu, or Elementary School - Mrs. Leuthauser eleuthauser@ccs.edu or via telephone at the main district number: 315-853-5574.
Regarding Access to Belongings at School:
Students may pick up needed belongings from the school buildings tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th from 8 AM - 4 PM. Students should wash their hands before coming to the school, practice social distancing (physical distancing) while in the building, and retrieve their belongings expeditiously. After Tuesday, you will need to make special arrangements with your principal to access your belongings, if needed, so plan accordingly and take what you need tomorrow.
We are also in the process of creating a Frequently Asked Questions document based on the comments we receive from you through our Comments Form and will post it on the website soon.
Again, I am sorry that this is happening and want you to know that we will do everything we can to support you and your children, and don’t forget to order lunch for your children above, if you so desire and are able.
Sincerely,
Dr. Grimm
