Instrucciones:

Research your assigned cultural topic.  Become an expert on it.  Then create a 3-5 minute presentation to teach the class about your topic. 

Presentations must include:

-Sufficient background information about your topic.

-3 facts that you found particularly interesting while researching the topic.

-Any Spanish words or phrases that directly relate to your topic.

-1 visual aid or demonstration of your topic.

Questions to Consider When Preparing Your Presentations

Music and Dance:

-When and in what country did this type of dancing or music originate?

-What group of people made it popular or famous? 

-How can the dance or music be described?

-What emotions does this type of music or dance evoke?

-How does this type of music or dance reflect the culture of the people?

 

Art and Literature:

-When did the author or artist live and what was happening historically at the time?

-How did the author or artist’s life experiences influence his or her writing?

-What works is he or she most famous for? What are the major themes of those works?

-What impact has the author or artist had on society?

  

Traditions and Customs:

-When, how, and why did the tradition or custom begin?

-Where does the tradition or custom take place and who participates in it?

-What aspects of the tradition appeal to those who participate?

-What exactly takes place when this tradition is carried out?

-What does this tradition say about the culture of the people who embrace it?

-In what country is the place of interest located and what makes it interesting?

-How old is this place and when was it created, settled, or discovered?

-What details of this place set it apart from other places in the world?

-What cultural significance does this place have in the country in which it is located?

 

Famous Figures:

-When and where did this person live and what was happening historically at the time?

-To what did this famous person dedicate himself or herself and why?

-What significant events was this person involved in?

-How did this person help or hurt the people with whom he or she was involved?

-What will this person be most remembered for?

Historical Events:

-When and where did the historical event take place?  What exactly happened?

-What previous events or situations may have contributed to this event?

-Who was involved and why?

-How did people react to the event?  What were the consequences of the event?

-What lasting effects has the event had on the people involved or on the world in general?
