HALL OF DISTINCTION

Purposes:

The purposes of the Clinton Central School Hall of Distinction are:

  • To recognize and celebrate graduates and retirees of the Clinton Central School District for their accomplishments.

  • To inspire students to current and future success.

Selection Criteria:

Graduates or retirees eligible for selection to the Clinton Central School Hall of Distinction will have exemplified the tenets of the Clinton Central School's educational philosophy throughout their lives, will have been graduated from the Clinton Central School District for at least 12 years or retired from the District for at least 5 years, and will meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Outstanding, enduring contribution to society by making a difference in the lives of others.

  • Outstanding professional contribution to or achievement in his/her chosen field of endeavor.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and involvement in the school and community at an exceptional level.

  • Please note that nominees of exceptional athletic distinction should be forwarded to the Kirkland Sports Hall of Fame for consideration.

Coordinating Committee:

Although the School District maintains ultimate authority over all aspects of the Hall of Distinction, a Coordinating Committee will supervise the nomination and selection of inductees as well as the induction ceremony. The Coordinating Committee consists of eight members:  a member of the Board of Education, the Superintendent of Schools, the High School Principal, two CCS teachers, two Foundation Board members, and a representative of the CCS Alumni Association.  The Coordinating Committee may modify any aspect of the Hall of Distinction process except for its Purposes and Selection Criteria.  The Board of Education and the CCS Foundation must approve any change in Purposes and Selection Criteria.

Nomination Process

Anyone may nominate or self-nominate a graduate or retiree for this distinction.  A deceased graduate or retiree may be nominated.  A nomination will be eligible for consideration for two years after which it will remain on file but will not be reconsidered unless:

  • The nominator/nominee provides the Coordinating Committee with additional materials in support of the application and requests consideration.

  • The Coordinating Committee itself decides to reconsider an application.

Information regarding the Hall of Distinction nomination process will appear in the Clinton Central School newsletters, the Clinton Courier, the Kirkland Newsline, the Clinton Central School website, and letters to class reunions.,  Nomination forms will be available at the Clinton Central School District Office or click the following link (Hall of Distinction Application Form) to access the form.

All nomination forms must be received by January 30th of any year.

Ceremony:

The inductees will be invited to a reception and induction dinner ceremony in June.  Inductees may be introduced at the High School Awards Night, graduation, and/or the Alumni Reunion as appropriate in a given year.

The Hall:

A plaque for each inductee will be displayed in the Clinton Central School auditorium lobby.
